I haven't been after the hogs lately, have been out calling coyotes. I was walking into a big pasture Saturday to set up for some calling and saw about 40 hogs scattered out along the back edge. I moved into position and set the caller out without them seeing.
I wondered what they would do when I started calling, which ended up being nothing at all. I couldn't even tell they noticed. I played baybee cottontail and nutty nuthatch for about 10 minutes and never saw a coyote. I watched they hog and they just continued rooting around, I scoped them out a saw there were at least 3 good sized boars with a couple messing with some sows, and only saw a few small ones. There could have been more small ones and I just couldn't see them. By the time I was finished with the stand they had worked a little closer and I decided to drop one of the boars. A single shot dropped him in his tracks and the rest high tailed it.
I stepped it off at 150 yards.
Not a monster, probable about 150#.
