On our 3rd stand of the day JP7mag shot this coyote at about 200 yards away with his 243 Win.

Late in the afternoon we drove up a long narrow canyon to where there were two canyons coming together. The road stopped and we realized if we walked back down the road we just drove in on we could call up into the canyon that we did not drive in and we would have a decent cross wind.
Our truck was just barely out of sight and I couldn't see very far in the brushy canyon bottom. I sat down with my shotgun and JP7mag was up above me where he could see better with his rifle.
I was watching the narrow road we had just drove in on and a few openings on each side of the Foxpro. The Foxpro was setting in a bush right next to the road about 25 feet from me.
We had been calling for 10 minutes or so when I see movement in the road back behind me and to my left. So I turned back to my left as far as I could and saw a coyote in the road about 15 yards from me stopping to look at me because I was moving.
I reached up over my chair and without getting my shotgun mounted on my shoulder pointed my shotgun at the coyote and shot it at about 15 yards away.

If this big mangy male coyote would have gone another 5 feet it could have seen our truck. I am pretty sure the reason he stopped was he saw my movement when I turned to make the shot.

In the above picture you can see where I had my Foxpro next to the road about 25 feet in front of me and to my right.
We made quite a few great looking stands and the two coyotes that we got were on two of the worst looking stands of the day.
Even though we didn't see many coyotes, we still had a great day.
