Your thoughts on component shortage

I'm pretty stocked up on my hunting cartridges for a year maybe 2 if the pigs don't over run us but I sure could use some Varget. I keep tabs on the major distributers locally and on the internet.
Just curious as to when and if ever availability will return to even close to normal. What are your thoughts? Is it a global conspiracy or just in the USA. Is it mainly hoarding or manufacturing or distribution or legal. I'm hoping its just a shortage due to paranoid hoarding but I keep hearing that maufacturers are having trouble getting raw materials and plants shutting down. Anybody have an 8 pound jug of Varget laying around they would part with?

I have no insider information, so this is all an educated guess...

I suspect that even if Trump manages to get back in office, it will be a long while. If he doesn't, I am pretty much preparing myself to not find the components I need for at least 4 years. Pretty sad really, but the pandemic started the panic buying about 5-6 months sooner than I thought the election would.

Keep your flints sharp and your leadpot warm, I think it might be awhile before we see a steady supply of components.

Yeah I was planning on setting in a big supply this spring and summer but the covid panic wiped things out before I could react.

In part, it is the people buying stuff at 5x inflated prices on GB that has caused the last few panics to be worse than they were in the past. It creates a market opportunity for a fortunate few who happen to have access, because of location or other factors, to a supply of the coveted components. I have a close friend who has done just that and cashed in royally. I don't agree with it, but if it wasn't him it would be someone else, because buyers created the market.

This one could be bad, but I think it will start to settle down maybe by mid year, especially if we keep the senate and the vaccines work to ease the panic. If the senate goes, all bets are off with what the commies will be able to get away with.

The worst thing is that it takes the fun out of shooting, feeling like you have a finite and dwindling supply of ammo. Pdog shooting is out of the question on any type of large scale.

I think deer season here was an eye opener for the casual shooter/hunter. A buddy went to get some 243 ammo for his daughter's rifle and of course none was to be found. I was able to set them up with a box and a deer died, but I wonder how many were not as fortunate.

As long as we keep the Senate and a 6 to 9 Scotus majority things will level out in a couple years. My worry is when election theft becomes the standard. People laughed at me and never stocked up.....now I'm not so nuts.

I'm very glade that I have a solid supply of ammunition and components to custom load ammunition.

I do think most hunters and shooters have larger stock piles of ammo and components for loading than they did in years past. Unfortunately the more severe the shortage, the worse people will hoard ammo and guns. It is a positive feedback loop and it will likely get worse than it is now. I'm optimistic it will start getting better by March assuming democrats don't get a majority of the Senate.

I was hoping to score some good ammunition deals on Black Friday or cyber Monday because I normally get some good deals those days. I doubt I'll find any deals this holiday season.

Good luck to all trying to find ammo and components.

I agree with the comments above regarding the senate. If the Republicans lose the majority I think it will set off panic buying like never before (regardless of what if anything the Democrats actually accomplish). If they hold it could be at least a year or two. I’m at point now that for some components like primers, powder and perhaps brass I’m seriously thinking about stockpiling for the endgame.

Im very well stock in about everything at this point. Overstocked in some so many of the primers I bought back in March (around 175k) ive used to trade my way into other things ive needed. I have had great luck getting varget locally and scored a 10 lb case on Powder Valley a couple weeks ago. Im back up to about 20 lbs of it and around 30 lbs of H4350.

Bought 5 lbs of Varget at Bass Pro for $32.99 per pound and 2 lbs at SW for $35. A local shop had an 8 lber for $265 (passed on it initially and decided maybe I should snag it but it was gone within a week) and 1 lbers for $37.00! IF availability does get better, price drops wont follow for some time. You will likely be paying $35+/lb for a while for the hard to find stuff.

Regardless of congress, Harris(after Biden is forced out if he resists) will use executive orders to weaken the bill of rights by taxation. Oil/energy production will be cut dramatically(this weakens the military and limits citizens ability to protest(has nothing to do with the environment just as the green new deal is a reset of a world economy). The socialists and Marxists will use tax and regulations to shutdown private capitalism and implement a China like government controlled version where winners and losers are picked, elections will be meaningless and slowly eliminated. The world economic organization by 2030 wants private property/gun ownership gone. And the democrats are on board with all of this.
