What to do with scanner

If I put a scanner on a monopod, what should I do to keep it iff the ground when switching to the rifle? What do you do with your scanner?

I've never tried putting a scanner on a monopod, only neck lanyard or helmet mount

Since I sit on my stands, I lay it beside me on a glove.

I hunt sitting down with the scanner on a monopod. When its time to get on the rifle, I simply place it back and on my left shoulder out of the way. Never had any issues with that tactic. A few occasions I had it hand held instead of on a monopod and placed it on my lap when getting on the rifle to shoot.
