Other than the appearance between the Pulsar trail XP 50 and thermion XP 50, which is better and why? Why go with one over the other? I use my current Trail XP 50 to scan then mount it on my AR to shoot. I want to buy another but I can’t decide between the two. Please help!

Between those I'd take the trail for sure. I'd get the lrf also. The lrf and battery system makes it a no contest.

If your comparing the Thermion to a regular trail and not a trail 2, I would say thermion without a doubt after owning both. I could possibly be swayed away from my Thermion xp50 for a Trail 2 LRF xp50 so I could ditch the radius i have mount on my rail.

I would go a different direction. Unless you need 2 scopes, get a dedicated scanner or at the very least, one that is more compact, and keep your Trail on your gun. The Thermion is not designed to really ever be used as a scanner. Some use the Trail in this manner, but it is really big and bulky but it sounds like you are used to that already.
