Grendel - Thermal Coyote #4

Early this morning before daylight the Grendel and thermal dropped coyote #4, a female. The coyote was nervous and wouldn't commit to the bait site, and stayed up on the hillside about 20 feet from the edge of the hay field and bait site. I took the shot quickly before she decided to leave. The view is too bright and I didn't take time to readjust the setting. The bait site itself was adjusted just fine, but I have noticed that when I scan up on the hill in the field, the view gets considerably brighter.

Distance was roughly 60 yards and on base mag of 2.2 with the Pulsar Apex XQ38. I was once again shooting a 100 gr. Sierra HP in the 6.5 Grendel. While all coyotes to date have been killed with this load, I am not completely satisfied with the performance. I have a feeling the bullet is too tough to expand properly at Grendel velocities. I have a box of 90 gr. TNT's that I need to try, and perhaps the 95 gr. V-Max.

The first two photos were taken earlier this summer. The leaves are turning and falling now.

Nice one 6. You're on a roll sir. Great pics and video to boot!

I'd be guessing, but a 95gr VMAX might be just the ticket for that Grendel

I've taken a couple coyotes with the 95gr Vmax with my 6.5 Creedmoor. Low sample size, but I'm pretty pleased with it so far.

Yesterday I loaded a few of the 90 gr. TNT’s and got pretty decent accuracy, so that load is next up to try. The V-Max seems hard to find, though a couple places have it. Shipping and tax will up the price considerably.

Has anyone tried the Nosler Varmageddon 95 grainers in a Grendel on coyotes?

I'm shooting the 90 gr Varmageddon in my Grendel. They're very accurate in my gun, and deadly on coyotes. Not fur friendly for sure. The 95 gr v-max didn't shoot that great in my gun (Alexander Arms) upper. I'm using Benchmark for my Grendel loads.
