I received my two sandhill crane tags in the snail mail today very exciting.
There way fun to hunt and great eating.
Still waiting on the swan tag, I got the draw just not the "Tag" yet.
Their fun also to hunt, can't say the same about the eating part.
If you smoke them and you can eat them.
Crane is NOTHING like eating waterfowl.
Both are gigantic birds. The boy got a trumpeter one year with an 81" wingspan.
And yes we can shoot both types of swan with the permit.

When I was out last week looking for crane I ran across some other crane hunters. The had Decoys a Lot of decoys.
AND they where BIG on tall poles.
SOOO.
I had decoy envy. I still have my first two that are mostly full-sized and near the ground like a feeding crane, but.
I made a magnum to join the flock.

I still have to put some feathers and a mat clear coat.
I know my wife is not tall but she is 5'4".
If the decoy was any bigger I could not carry it out without a game cart. Three will have to work.

Saw a couple cranes the other day about 10 mi from home.
Some are trying to get a season but the bird lovers????

They like to eat sprouting seeds in late april and May. Some crops have to be replanted.

Pheasants used to do that to our sweet corn when I lived on the N side of Toledo. Theyd go right down a row and hardly miss a seed that had a sprout up about 1/2 to 3/4"
