22K Hornet Load

Cleaning out some extra 22 cal bullets, 45 gr & 40 gr. Thought since they are extra & w/use them on jack rabbits & P.dogs. Does anyone have a decent load for either? Appreciate any input. Many thanks & a great w/end to all. Duane

13.5 grains of LilGun and one of those 40 grain bullets should work pretty good.

I am using 13.0 grains of LilGun with 45 grain bullets & small pistol primers in my hornet (non K).

I had a good load using A1680 & speer 45gr, but its been to long to recall the details. I shot factory Win 46gr 22 hornet ammo for a while until I formed enough brass to load. My rifle (TC contender) was very accurate with the win factory ammo.

LilGun powder is the place to start. Also, as has been suggested, try small pistol primers.

Alliant Power Pro MP300 powder is supposed to be similar to LilGun, but I have not tried it yet.

With such a small case, small changes can be magnified. For example, 1/2gr of powder in a Hornet is not the same as 1/2gr in a 300 Weatherby.

Isn't that K-Hornet a blast to shoot? I love mine. I need to shoot it more though.
