Hog Caliber

I am going to Texas to hog hogs in a few weeks. I have two options for the rifle I'll be taking.

1. Remington 700 in .223
2. Ruger 77/22 in 22 Hornet

Shots will be over feeders and probably within 50 yards. I cannot afford at the moment to buy a different rifle.

Thoughts?

You probably allready have a favorite round or handload for your .223 but if not Hornady makes a great 75 grain factory load. Hornady Black 75 grain. Work great on pigs if you hit them behind the ear. Even a .308 has trouble with immediate knock down on a big pig shoulder shot.

always take the extra gusto!

if you can find any, a 75gr SP would be ideal - like the Gold dot. but those are pretty much unobtanium right now from what i can tell.
