Cheap scopes

I know, you get what you pay for! BUT, the BSA scope on my Savage 17HMR has been a pretty good scope. BUT, the finish has turned stickie. Any suggestions to clean, paint, whatever. Thanks.

Acetone should do it. I cleaned up from old camo duct tape on a completely covered gun/scope recent. It did great.

At least some “finger nail polish remover” is 100% acetone ive seen.

Be careful if you use acetone. It can mess up the oring seals and turrets on some glass.
I had a scope do the same thing. Rubbing alcohol will take it off and is a little safer.

Thanks jsh. I did not keep that scope but dont think it hurt it. Burris used to recommend acetone for cleaning the lenses. It was on their site. May not be now that was quite a few yrs ago.
