Savage 23D 22 Hornet

Incahoots

Anyone have any experience with this rifle? Shoot well? Found one and price seems fair. Not much of a looker but that's not of much importance. Thought it could make for a decent fox rig

They are all old so it is a crap shoot. I had one in the 1970's and killed a fair number of fox with it. The barrel and action are one piece so if it gets shot out/damaged you have to rebore them to a 25 Hornet

You could always ask to shoot it first, perhaps? That would tell a lot abuot it's potential. But consider the price vs a newer model vs performance. That all said, a larger cal (222/223/etc), can be downloaded to Hornet or so performance as needed, if you reload, and yet be even more versatile when loaded hotter as needed. For fox, not so fast isn't so bad, if you care about the fur. And someting like 223 has much more available factory ammo and brass in general. JMHO.
