Eastern MT

I pulled a deer tag for eastern Montana after applying on a whim.

12hr drive and plan on going solo for about 10 days in early October.

Any deer or coyote hunting advice for that general area?

Thanks

I hunted birds and coyotes in NE MT and there wasn't much public land, some WMA's mostly for ducks. Eastern MT covers a lot of country. IN central MT we had lots of public land and a lot of private land open through the states hunter access program. Be sure and get the hunter access booklet from the state, it has maps of the ranches and all the restriction for the land.

The East Central and Southeast part of the state might have more public lands, I've camped near Glendive a couple times and it is pretty country also, NE part of the state is pretty plain.

Have a good time.

Lose your out of state plates. J/k
Montana has 30million acres of land open to the public.

I grew up in North eastern Montana. Some block management. Hunting Mule deer or Whitetail?. What part of Eastern do you want to hunt? North or South Half? Many options and the Missouri Breaks has many Mule deer. Let me know, landowners aren't against out of state. Just people that don't ask permission.

I’d give some thoughts to prairie dogs too. Not the normal time of year for dogging, but the right spot, it would be just fine.
