H-S Precision Stock recoil pad

Hey All,
Anybody here ever replace the recoil pad on a H-S Precision stock?
If so how did you get the old one off?
Thinking about trying to replace one with a softer one.
~ Thanks

I cut it off with a knife. But I had a HS stock that was too short and I only cut off the rubber portion of the recoil pad leaving the hard plastic base plate. Then I epoxied my new pad to the old base. This gave me the added length of pull I needed. Good luck. I do know HS refused to sell me a replacement pad.

Years ago I sent a stock back to H-S for repair on stripped out sling stud. They repair it at no charge to me. You might contact them and ask about replacing the pad. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

H-S Precision wants $175 to replace butt pad and $25 for return shipping.
That's why I was inquiring about how difficult a job this might be
Before jumping in and doing it myself.

No idea how they secure their pads but I have taken a number of glued on pads off by using heat from a hot air gun to soften the adhesive then cleaned up with utility knife and sanding block
