Been in school too long (true story)

My brother had just finished an internship and residency in cardiology and internal medicine after graduating from veterinary school. He had finally come back home after 10 years of training and we went out coyote calling. So I'm hunting with my only rifle, a 1903 sporterized Springfield .30-06 my dad got after "the War" using 110gr HP Sierras. I'm squawking on an old Circe "Call of the Wild" 3 in one rabbit distress call. Suddenly a coyote streaks past us at about 10 yards and I swing on it. All I see in the scope is fur when I touch it off. The coyote rolls over & over and comes to a stop. We go up to look at it and turn it over. The exit wound is a 4" opening in the chest wall on the back side. I'm like, "GEEZE, what a hole" and my brother goes "Wow! Open pneumothorax!" I said "Uh, Gary, you've been in school too long. It's OK now, you're back home. It's OK.....
