What do you guys say about a 16" 6x45?? To short or just right?? I'd be shooting it supressed, am I going to get 100% powder burn???
I've had a 18" one before but not a 16. Thanks in advance.

No you won't get 100% burn on a 16 nor on an 18 for that matter. Realistically the 16 will put the hurt on whatever you shoot and with the can you obviously pick up maneuverability. I prefer something over 16 as the longer ones are a bit softer shooting. An 18 mid is a good short gun for me.

So am I going to ruin my Supressor not getting a full burn and sand blast it

Ok any idea on speeds you can expect out of 65-70 gr bullets

I'll have to pull my records. I'll get some numbers out later. My rule of thumb on this one as a WAG is deduct 225 FPS from published 24 data.

Ok, let me know what you find, and what’s WAG?

Doing some math manipulations out of an AR, bolts are faster, throttled back 200 FPS because of the 16" tube I approcah"

55 NOSLER AA 2200 3300 and AA 2230 3377

58 VMAX AA 2200 3525

65 VMAX H4895 3020

70 NOSLER AR COMP 2969 and 8208 XBR 3007

None of these were over the top and I had a bit more room. Stuck in my Savage bolt gun speeds started climbing nicely plus I had more powder choices.

Forgot to ask are speeds above what you would expect out of a 16” or what you get out of 24”?

Those were adjusted down from my 24" speeds. The shortest 6X45 I have is 20 1/2" and I have not chronographed it. It's my wife's 3Gun rig and we just load it and let her go win. One load in all the years she had it..LOL

I run a 12” suppressed. I haven’t chrono’d it, just loaded up some 70gr SMK’s and shot some groups. Out to 300 yards, I don’t feel the velocity loss vs my 16 & 18” 556’s is enough to worry about in terms of ballistics.

I’m very happy with my sbr and it’s pretty much been my go to with a suppressor.

60 sierras run a tad over 3000 in my 16" 10 twist bhw and my 18" 8 twist bhw with a full case of h4895. 55s will run 3300 with 27.3 aa 2200 in the 16 twist but accuracy is spotty. The 8 twist slings 55s all over at 3300.

That is incredible velocity.

I have trouble getting 55 grain bullets to go over 3000fps in 223 REM with compressed loads of H4895.

With a 16 inch barrel anyway.
