I had a chance to try a FLIR scout 640 and I was very glad I didn't buy one. It was pretty much worthless for scanning. You can get a pulsar axion for a little more.

This is 2 steps below the Scout from a resolution standpoint as they have the 640, a 320 and 240 Scout.

240x180 resolution and 1x optical magnification. I have never used one but this doesn't sound very good. You could get a Flir PTS233 for this price used and it would be 12 micron, 320x256 with recording, color palettes, and more.
