There seems to be more and more every year......

Bozeman, MT — Three hunters were injured Monday in two separate grizzly bear attacks on the west side of the Gravelly Mountains.

The three survivors received moderate to severe injuries. Both attacks involved a single bear, but it’s unclear whether the same bear was involved. Wardens with Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks are asking hunters to leave this area while the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest closes Cottonwood Road.

The first attack happened at about 7:30 a.m. Monday. A bear charged two adult male hunters as they were heading south from Cottonwood Creek, west of Black Butte. Both hunters were injured but were able to drive the bear away and get medical treatment in Ennis.

The second attack happened in the same general area at about 6:30 p.m. as two adult male hunters were heading north toward Cottonwood Creek. One of the hunters was injured before they drove the bear away. The injured hunter was initially treated in Sheridan and later in Butte.

Details of these attacks are still unclear. Both incidents are still under investigation. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

FWP reminds everyone to be cautious when in the field as bears are active during the spring, summer and fall months.

Getting out of hand. A buddy got pics of one this summer here in Sapphire Range. These bears need thinned and reminded who the boss is.

My next door neighbor just posted some pics on Facebook of a large Grizz that he and a friend saw yesterday a few miles north of our place. It was about 10yds away and "had no fear of us". No spray or shots fired. It just wandered off.

Game Commissions seem to be out of touch with the public these days. We don’t have grizzlies here but the black bear population is out of hand. They are causing damage and getting too close to communities.

I was in Ennis this morning and stopped in the pharmacy/cafe for some goodies. There was some guy asking the clerk for a map of the Gravely range for hunting access. She just laughed and told the guy he wasn't going in there because the area was closed due to the bear attacks. Part of that area was already closed from bear activity. Some cows got into some Larkspur and 9 of them died from it. There were supposedly up to 20 grizz hanging around those carcasses.

Heavens no, but about 20 minutes after they approved limited Grizz hunting in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming a fed judge stopped it cold. Apparently we need some more research! (actually some tags had been sold/drawn but it was all shutdown long before the season would have started)

They are pretty big, makes shoot, shovel, shut up a little harder. More like shoot, fire up the excavator, and shut up.

Another hunter was attacked yesterday about 8 miles south of these attacks.. The Gravely Range is proving to be a very dangerous place to be these days.

just another way to get hunters to stop hunting. if game biologists open hunt a certain animal a fed. judge should not be able to have it closed.we need to all do what we can to change this B.S.

The libtards will never let us manage these predators.... It doesn't fit their agenda.. the only thing that will make a difference is some brave souls start solving the problem themselves... Quietly....
