What is an Assualt weapon?

Every morning I get up, get my coffee, turn on the news and another shooting in Tulsa or somewhere in the US. Its hard to say that something is not wrong and needs fixed. Is it a political problem, a mental problem,a racist problem, or just bad people taking it out on innocent people? I don't know what the answer is to end the mass shootings. Since the beginning of man, we have found ways to kill each other. Anything from a rock or stick to an atom bomb, even an automobile, today is just happens to be the AR 15. Do we start banning everything that has the possibility to cause deadly harm? We all...or most of us know more gun control laws don't work. We have pretty strict laws now and the bad guy still finds a way to get guns, They always have, they always will. Only the good guy suffers from more rules so whats the answer? I don't have one. All I know is taking my guns away just turns me into a possible victim.

tnshootist, you took the words out of my mouth. In the hunter ed classes we constantly correct students on the gun/weapon thing. As to dividing shooters into smaller groups, I spar with a couple trap shooters almost every week. Not sticking together is our biggest problem.

The left only advocate bans that can/will lead to the dismantling of the constitution. The USA is a constitutional republic, not a democracy(a term you always hear socialist, communist, dfl battering about). The dfl was started as an opposition party to the fundamental guiding principles of the U.S. constitution, because the left does not believe individual citizens should be protected from the government by inalienable rights(natural given rights). The God given(natural) rights of life, liberty and property are under attack every day by the left(new dfl), think about what you hear on the news(latest crisis).

These are some very good points. One thing all these individuals have in common is mental illness. They don't all use guns. How about the worst school massacre in the U.S? What caliber did the killer use? It was the Bath school massacre of 1927. What caliber? It was DYNAMITE. How about the guys driving into crowds? What caliber are those cars and trucks? How about the knife attacks in China?

It is 100% TRUE that people will always find ways to kill each other. The real threat, is PEOPLE. So when you think about psycho's walking among us, and remember the police are only minutes away, then you can understand why those of us feel the need and desire to protect ourselves with guns. Do I "need" certain guns? That is a debatable point. Just like do we need cars that can go 200 mph, or food that has 5,000 calories in it? Do we need cigarettes? Booze? There are plenty of things that some would argue that we don't need.

But it comes down to personal responsibility, nothing more. We don't see Budweiser getting sued because someone drank and drove. We don't see Mars getting sued because people get fat and get diabetes. I don't agree with people getting money from the tobacco industry, they CHOSE to smoke. But the courts made their decisions.

We, LEGAL and law ABIDING citizens should NOT suffer for a crime that we did NOT commit. My guns have killed less people than Teddy Kennedy's car. I have a Constitutional right to innocence until PROVEN guilty. Yet we are punished simply for exercising our Constitutional right.

A gun is an inanimate object, a tool. Nothing more. The anti gunners politicize tragedy by gifting human traits to an inanimate object.

I surrender my soap box.

Don't surrender anything! I just now tried to explain to some on facebook why its always the innocent that gets punished. Do I have more guns than I need? Probably so but they haven't hurt anything except my bank account and they are killing it. LOL! Taking my guns away won't stop anything. Bad guys are going to find a way. One girl arguing with me knits. I said if you stabbed someone with a knitting needle, wouldn't that be an assault? No reply from her. Imagine that!! Well he11, lets just ban them assault knitting needles. My brother is a musician. If he killed someone with a guitar, do we ban assault guitars? Its stupid the way people think and whats worse is you can't seem to change their minds or maybe even get them to look at it some other way but theirs.

LOL, I don't know if I won the debate with her or lost. She un-friended me. Funny, I seemed to have lost several friends over this.

nailed it! they're taking advantage of the victim mentality. nobody wants to be responsible for their actions anymore - its always someone or something's fault. god forbid their friend, family member, neighbor, etc take the blame for what they did. always the product, never the person because kids are being taught thats the way it works. welcome to the result of "no score" sporting leagues, and participation trophy's. you can only claim to be responsible if you did good.

and lets be honest....if MADD could sue budweiser for someone drinking and driving - they would in a heartbeat. They'd do the same to the car manufacturers if they could get away with it too.

thank GOD trump is making all these appointments to the federal courts that will hopefully stave off some of this nonsense.

and we just had a major decision against Johnson & JOhnson regarding the opiate abuse.

they didnt prescribe the stuff. they didnt force people to take the stuff. but they're the ones being forced to pay $572 million to the state of Okalahoma to "help fight" the opiate crisis there. thank god it wasnt the $17 BILLION the prosecutors wanted.

the "pain clinic" quacks who were handing the stuff out like candy for a stubbed toe are the ones to blame. they knew what the [beeep] they were doing. they wanted those $75 office visits ever couple weeks to renew the 'scrip. THEY were the revolving door, not the pill manufacturer.

Typical liberal behavior. Have a very liberal friend with whom I argue on a regular basis. When I get start to get the best of her, she either starts crying or says, "I don't want to talk about this anymore" and storms out of the room.
