Question,
Converted a Savage 10 243win to a 6.5CM 20" Criterion bull 1-8.
Are you guys running any RL-16 or mainly H4350? Not a speed freak as long as I know where the bullets going Im happy. I prefer accuracy over hypersonic.

Welcome aboard, "X" Seabee here also 1966-69(got an early out).

Sorry I can't help, haven't drank the 6.5 CM koolaid yet. Too much gun for me.

Each gun is different. I shoot mostly H4831sc in mine with bullets over 140.

I've got a few loads that have worked well with H4350 and IMR 4451 also.

I don't have a short barrel, mines 24", but Reloader 16 has been very good for me with Berger 140 VLD hunting. Very temp stable and consistent.

I have shot out several short (16-18 inch) 6.5x47 and 6.5 creedmoor barrels, and currently have barrels at 16", 18", 22", and 26". Varget will give about 100 more FPS at max then H4350 in barrels 20" and shorter. My current 18" barreled 6.5 creedmoor is running 2625fps with 147 grain Hornady ELD-M's over Varget.

Working on some loads now with RL 17, looks promising. Been trying to find some RL 26 to sling some heavies but it’s pretty scarce around here.

Standard 8tw bbl, or did you go faster twist to better stabilize in the short tube?

I run 4350 in mine. Just out of curiosity........why choose the Creedmoor over the 243 if you were going with such a short barrel?

The 243 would just leave more unburned powder, if I had to guess. With the shorter barrel, you can get away with running a faster powder than you could in standard length bbls to make up some lost velocity. Just dont get ammo confused, or it can cause a kaboom.

I prefer H100V for 130 - 140 gn projectiles.
Varget for 100 - 130 and 8208 xbr for under 100 gn.
Superformance for over 140 gn.
Not using H4350 currently, but have plenty of it.
This is for 3 diff 6.5 cm sticks, 22" & 24".
Don't think I'd change any of these for a 20".
