Ok I want to make a load for my bergara hmr 6.5 creedmoor for prairie dogs specifically. Now my barrel is a 1.8 twist so how would the tnt 90g, 95g vmax hold up? I’m thinking of trying the 95g vmax or the tnt but the vmax has a better bc. I do shoot this rifle surpressed so if a bullet blows up it’s a big deal. The 3rd bullet I’m considering is the 107g Tmk, then the 123 or 120 eldm. But I would like to get the velocity up to get a little more explosive action. I shot some with the 75g Amaxes at 3500 and they didn’t blow up at all a lot of the hits had crawlers. Any advice would be great on powders to try proably be using hornady brass.

I shot a pile o pdogs with 120gr Amax over 39gr of Varget 2 years ago.
95gr Vmax pushed with some Varget or H4895 would get my vote.

85, 90gr Sierra Varminters are great. Flat and explosive on the PDogs. Running H4350 in those.
95gr Hornady VMax and 100gr Hornady AMax and Sierra Varminters like Varget more in my barrels.

How were the amazes for expansion on the prairie dogs? I’m currently shooting 140s eldm but after shooting some with my 22-243 and 75g amaxes they didn’t expand that well even at 3500fps. So I was worried that the 140eldm wouldn’t work that good on prairie dogs because I know some guys have used them on deer and I want something to explode thenpraitie dogs.

to OP: for my 6.5 cm SAV 10, 24", 1:8

I use 40.1 gn of 8208 under 95 VMAX, 2.66 COL, F210M, HDY brass, and get 3160 fps. It's not a hot load but is accurate in my SAV.
I get about 100 fps more from 8208 than Varget on the 95 VMAX.

For 100 to 130gn I use Varget.

For 140s I use H4350 or H100V.

(no experience on P-dogs)

120 amax opened them up really good on the closer stuff, 250 yards and in. I saved most of the rounds for the mid range stuff, 300-550yds on that trip. You know you hittem at 550. I still prefer some thing more along the 32gr 204 or 50gr 22-250 for that wow factor.
