Dear TSRA Members, Family and Friends:

Next Wednesday, April 3rd, at 8:00 am in room E2.016, the House Committee on Homeland Security and Public Safety takes up a large list of filed legislation.

On the list are two bills that, if passed, would roll back public safety and harm the Texas License to Carry and personal protection rights.

HB1236 by Rep. Vikki Goodwin (D) would allow college campuses to post PC 30.06 which would take Texas law back to the beginning for adult students, faculty and staff with a Texas license to carry and this important personal protection option. Remember this hard fought battle took 8 years, two sets of bill authors, and 10 public hearings before passage and it has been upheld by the courts.

We need impact testimony on Wednesday.

HB2280 by Rep. Vikki Goodwin (D) would shrink the size PC 30.06 and PC 30.07 sign and generally change the wording and appearance.
After 22 years of consistency, over one million Texas licensees would be threatened by accidental trespass due to a whim by the Texas Legislature.

The heart of personal safety is practice and consistency. Signs don't stop criminals!

It will be a long day in committee on Wednesday but if you are personally impacted by either of the two bills explained above, consider coming to the hearing and giving testimony. If you can't attend reach out to HSPS committee members and urge them to Stop HB 1236 and HB 2280 as unnecessary and dangerous to personal safety.

Finally thank you for contributing to the TSRA-PAC. Go to www.tsrapac.com to give.

Session will end in a very short time and Texas House members and half the Texas Senate will be up for re-election. As we inch closer to redistricting and the effects of population growth, please continue to be an activist. Any freedom worth having is worth fighting for.

Thanks for taking Action as requested. The Capitol opens at 7 and level E2 is underground. Level E1, also underground, is where the Capitol grill is located. Come early and have coffee with me.

Keep the Faith,

Alice Tripp
