Can you build a 308 for a grand?

I have had good results with the PA10. Mine shoots the blue box Federal 180's at 1.5 moa all day long. Not bad for a cheap, hunting round. The chamber did come a bit rough, but for the sub $600 I paid for mine, I am not going to complain!

I bought a complete ar stoner heavyweight 22” barrel 243 upper for $449.00 shipped from midway USA and a complete lower assembly with rifle length buffer from aero prescion minus a stock for $200 shipped on Black Friday. $649 all done minus a stock. Not bad for a cheap, long range, coyote lazer zapper. Always wanted a DPMS or R25 in 243 but didn’t want to pay $1200 for one...and wanted a longer 24” barrel to to boot. I couldn’t pass this one one for the money. It’s definitely on the heavy side but I bet it will be a tack driver with the single stage 2.2 lb pull trigger I installed and my reloads.

I did replace the grip, $23, the trigger which felt great but I replaced it with a single stage CMC 2.5 competition trigger, $139, a couple of mags, $20ea, a $53 Remington r25 buttstock, and replaced the stainless birdcage with a $10 fluted thread protector which shortened it up by two inches and won’t blow my ear drums out now when hunting without muffs.

You can normally find dpms Oracles in 308 brand new for $650.00 on gunbroker.

I got one of these. They are nice rifles.
A trigger and a good glass scope are $1000 more.
I changed the handguard and buttstock, $600 more.
DPMS Oracle Rifle .308 Win 16in Black Optic Ready w/ T-6 Stock 60560
They like 168gr match ammo.

Sweet, you bought an ar stoner 243 upper and a aero precision lower and put them together? Hows it shoot?

Just buy one for 800.

I agree, if I wanted a cheap 308 I would buy an Oracle off GB for $650.00. The S&W sounds like the one to go with from the reviews I’ve seen on YouTube. There are tons of cheap 308 AR/LR’s complete ready to go for under a grand everywhere. It’s cheaper to buy done most the time unless your looking for a caliber specific rifle like myself.

Almost bought an Oracle 308 last year for $650 complete NIB and then I ran into the 243 upper. I’ve been been wanting a 243 AR for decades to use for coyote blasting.
