.223 varget loads

I'm using 27gr varget under Hornady 52gr bthp. Rem 700 sps tac 20", and using 24gr H4064 under 75gr Hornady bthp in a stag arms model 6. Both prodce one ragged hole when i do my part.

26 grs with 55gr sierra game kings out of my tc venture equals 1/2 inch 5 shot groups @100 yards. My gun likes varget the most out any other powder.

27gr Varget with a 50gr Nosler BT shoots 3153fps and .401"
24.5 BenchMark with a 50gr Nosler BT shoots 3550fps and .539"
Both out of my Howa 24" heavy barrel. The 27gr Varget is compressed but I can still seat the bullet to 2.330 fine.

Dave,
I like a full case of Varget in the 223. 27.2 grns and 50 vmax does real well. Low pressure and very accurate in every rifle I've shot it out of. No pressure issues in the summer time either.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

Blopez50,
What depth are you seating it? OAL
I'm about to work up some 60's with varget and benchmark.

55 grain sierra softpoints with 26.0 Varget. The groups are so tight it makes me cry with joy!...lol...The Varget fills up those cases though, the first time I used it I dumped the powder back in the scale to make sure I was reading it right.

I have 2 ARs, std 16” barrels one is 1:9 other is 1:7
My most accurate load is 62gr Sierra SP with 24.5g Varget, CCI primer, 2.25 OAL

3/4” groups @ 100yds off a bench rest.

Best groups with factory ammo was hornady match bthp which managed 2” groups
All hunting rounds I tried 3” was typical out of either gun.

Totally agree. All 3 of my ARs, all different barrel lengths and different twists, love 26gr of Varget under Sierra 55gr HPBT Gameking (1390). I have yet to shoot a group over 3/4 MOA with that load. In fact, most of the groups are 1/2 MOA if I can do my part.

What rate of twist do you have in your rifle? If it is 1-12 or 1-14 it won't stabilize heavier than 55 grain.
