Catching Jack Rabbits instead of coyotes?

I hadn't trapped for about 30 years and a rancher wanted some coyotes taken off of his place. He had about a dozen traps so I thought I would help him out. I have caught one coyote and 15 Jack rabbits. Flats sets and bait hole sets. Even using a scent pole set, using only coyote piss to attract predator. Can't seem to keep the rabbits out of the sets. I'm using bait and lures from F&T. Never had this happen before. Is there something I'm doing wrong? At least I know the traps are working good, not freezing etc.

No the coyotes aren't getting to the rabbits. I check them everyday, because when rabbits are in the traps them the coyotes aren't. I'm surprised that a coyote hasn't found one before me though.

Tighten your pan with a very short throw ,.. you will get deeper foot catches and the nontargets species won’t set your traps off. Also,.. try using more dirt over your trap to help disperse weight of non target animals
I hope this helps you
