What Wood?

This may not be the correct forum for this but I know yall call makers will can identify this wood.

I have built a small cnc router that Im starting to make 1911 and Ruger MKII grips. I have been using cherry from some trees I cut.

The machine shop where I work we get truckloads of material. Truck drivers sometimes leave the wooden boards between the material and trailor.
Most is popular or pine but I have found some thats darker. It doesnt look as dark as walnut. @2 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 8'

Thanks Guys. It is kinda of a medium brown what was making me think something other than oak. I have some other oak 4x4s that are real light colored almost white.

Oak is an awesome wood. I have red oak stock, as well as white oak. Both are very different in color, medium brown to pale amber, but they both have the 'rays and flecks' figure.

You have some nice stock there, my friend.
