Let's do some quick math.

The latest survey from Nielsen shows CNN is losing the prime time cable news race. It has 944,000 viewers from 8 to 11 p.m. EST. Compare that to 2.3 million for Fox News and 1.7 million for MSNBC.

So the conservative side is getting 2.3 million viewers and the liberal side is getting 1.7 million + 944,000 for a total of roughly 2.64 million. So there's more liberals than conservatives watching the news. Sounds about right.

That would only hold true if both numbers were unique viewers. In all likelihood so some viewers of x are also counted as viewers of y.

In any case there are more watching z than x or y.
