300 Wby Mag Elk Load

Check out Nosler manual's best accuracy loads, you will hit a home run!

180g and 200g partitions are very, very accurate in the 300 Weatherby.

I would urge you to get a muzzle break from Williams gunsight and the recoil will be like a 243. Their muzzle breaks have three expansion chambers...best I have ever used.

I can't speek for loads to kill elk but i can comment on handloading an accurate reload in the 300 Weatherby. My hand loads never shot as good a the factory ammo which was 1"-1 1/2" at 100 yards. I finally got a headspace guage and was able to determine that my full length die was bumping the sholder back .006 - .008" if set with the die touching the shell holder. I have also found that my weatherby shoots flat base bullets better than boat tails . There are numerous references to this on the web. Finally my gun has a 24" barrel and faster powders like H4831 have proven to be more consistant than slower powders like H1000 or imr 7828.

Just my experience.

Don't have one but if I did I would take advantage of the large case capacity and shoot heavy bullets, over 200 gr backed by retumbo.
Hornady eldx or berger hybrids have worked very well for me in a winmag.
