Groundhog out at night

Last night I drove thru the field by the barn.. Dark as can be and there walking thru the field at first I thought was a porcupine. As I got closer to it I noticed no needles.. It was a groundhog just walking through the field in front of my truck.. Anyone else ever seen them out at night. This was at 10;15.. Dan

Never. That seems quite odd. Too many fox and coons around here for them to come out at night.

An old friend in SW VA tells me he has seen many out digging dens while out coon hunting at night. His dog would tree them.
