You could use a Dremel tool.
Just take your time and let the holes meet.

This mod, plus the RTV silicone mod, coupled with an forward assist Gas Vent, an adjustable gas block or adjustable gas key, and the proper weight buffer makes for a very nice shooting, gas-in-the-face-free AR.
