The NRA has announced that Lt. Colonel Oliver North, USMC (Ret.) will become President of the NRA within a few weeks, a process the NRA Board of Directors initiated Monday morning.

North said he was eager to take on this new role. North is retiring from Fox News, effective immediately. “I am honored to have been selected by the NRA Board to soon serve as this great organization’s President,” North said. “I appreciate the board initiating a process that affords me a few weeks to set my affairs in order, and I am eager to hit the ground running as the new NRA President.”

Oliver North NRA Pete Brownell NRA PresidentThe NRA Board acted quickly to begin the process for North to become President, after former NRA President Pete Brownell announced that, in order to devote his full time and energy to his family business, he had decided not to seek election to a second term.

Brownell wrote to the NRA Board: “Discussing this with Wayne LaPierre, he suggested we reach out to a warrior amongst our board members, Lt. Colonel Oliver North, to succeed me. Wayne and I feel that … a leader with his history as a communicator and resolute defender of the Second Amendment is precisely what the NRA needs. After consulting with NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris Cox, First Vice President Childress and Second Vice President Meadows, I can report there is extraordinary support for Col. North.”

“Pete has served the NRA with great courage and distinction,” LaPierre said. “I am grateful that he joined me in enthusiastically recommending Oliver North to the Board of Directors.”

Carolyn Meadows Will Serve as Interim NRA President
After the announcement, NRA First Vice President Richard Childress informed the board that he had multiple commitments in the next several weeks and was unable to be immediately available to serve as interim President. The Board then selected Second Vice President Carolyn Meadows to serve as its interim President. Meadows will step aside in a few weeks, when Lt. Col. North is prepared to take on his new role as NRA President.

Surrender your firearms and let the government protect you... O. N. knows first hand on how you can count on big brother...

I am not a calculator, quite trying to count on me...

Ollie North is an excellent choice by the NRA. He is a great guy and a true American patriot who will do all in his power to defend our constitutional rights.

My history is a little hazy, but didn't Ollie trade weapons for hostages? And didn't they funnel cocaine into the USA and use the money to buy weapons for rebels in South America? Seems like Ollie fell on his sword for Regan. But I'm no history buff....

Not for Reagan but for America. The Nicaraguan rebels,or Contras, were fighting against the Sadinistas,a leftist communist/socialist coalition backed by the Soviet Union. In 1990 the Sandinistas were defeated at the ballot box. As I said,Ollie North is a great American patriot.

He is a patriot because he funded a terrorist organization in a third world country using funds derived from trafficking illegal narcotics to people in America..... Am I understanding your statement correctly?

Nope dawg, wrong again. Ollie North is a great patriot for having the courage to stand with the U.S.A. in a covert operation to prevent the Soviet Union from flipping South America and Central America to communism. You know, something like what the Kennedy's did when they stood against the Soviet Union in Cuba. You are old enough to remember aren't you?

If he was a liberal we would be calling him a traitor. So it really depends on which side of the aisle you are on.

I don't remember, Kennedy was a couple years before my time. I wonder what history would say about him, had he lived. It's sort of like marrying a widow; her dead husband was perfect and there is no way for another to live up to the expectations, real or imagined.

However; didn't Castro remain in charge of Cuba. Perhaps they evicted the Russians, but communism remained, right?

Neither here nor there; Ollie devised the scheme. In other words, found a way to fund freedom fighters who committed terroristic acts in the name of democracy. Spin it any way you want; they were terrorists in the eyes of their government. Furthermore, Ollie committed (a disputed) criminal act by going against Congress.

This was done with Reagan's knowledge and approval. What would you be saying if Obama or Hillary did the same thing? Would they be called patriots?

Ok
Why is Kennedy dead.
1. He double crossed the CIA st the bsy of pigs.
2. He double crossed the mob, he was a democrat, the mob ran unions in the 60s. Costing them billions of casino money.

Oliver North was the fall guy
There is no way a Lt.Col. had thst much stroke

No idea why Kennedy is dead; and neither does anyone else. Probably the same reason Hoffa is dead. Doesn't have anything to do with Uncle Ollie running the NRA.

I too believe Uncle Ollie was the workhorse and ultimately fall guy for Reagan. But no matter how ya look at it, "they" funneled weapons to Central/South America for the purpose of overthrowing a government. All the while knowing the weapon transporters were running dope back to the US. So while they are 'protecting" the US interest in a third world country, we are creating the biggest plague of the 20th century. I realize he was just a soldier obeying orders but isn't the moniker "Patriot" a little over the top?

i know why he is dead and i am sure many others know why also.

Then provide the reason why Kennedy was killed and the proof behind the reason.

"I realize he was just a soldier obeying orders but isn't the moniker "Patriot" a little over the top?"

Perhaps it's over the top if you are a millennial socialist looking at history thru a fogged lens. But, if you have a broader understanding of our nations history and realize what was at stake during the Cold War you undoubtedly see Ollie North as a hero and a patriot. After all, the Soviet Union at that time was viewed as the greatest threat to the Western democracies and world peace. Do you remember? No?

I'm certainly no history buff and far from a millennial, but is it possible father time has distorted the accuracy of peoples memory? Transporting thousands and thousands of tons of cocaine back to the US is acceptable because........ the Russians were a threat?

You do realize that started the crack epidemic, right? The same people flying weapons to the Contras were also flying tons of cocaine back to the US mainland using military intelligence and military planes provided via; Uncle Ollie's boys.... That is a broader understanding of our nation's history regarding the war on drugs..... A much bigger threat than Russia ever was or has been.

Ollie North's bio-sheet. Nothing about him being a drug
pusher.

"The charges of CIA involvement in Contra cocaine trafficking were revived in 1996, when a newspaper series by reporter Gary Webb in the San Jose Mercury News claimed that the trafficking had played an important role in the creation of the crack cocaine drug problem in the United States. Webb's series led to three federal investigations, none of which found evidence of any conspiracy by the CIA or its employees to bring drugs into the United States."
