im new to trapping and last winter i went with an east river trapper who taught me a great deal, but he was tellin me about this trap that u put out and the coyote puts its mouth on it and it shoots a pill or poison in to the mouth and the coyote dies within about 15 secs or so. does anybody know what thats called and if its even legal to buy

I believe these are also called cyanid (sp) guns. Yep, baited with a piece of something edible and when critter tugs at bait they got a face full of the cyanid. I understand they were very effective. If I remember right they used a shotgun type shell for the blast. Only one minor problem with em, they killed anything and everything that tugged at the bait. Badgers, skunks, domestic dogs, birds of prey, and a host of other things. Wicked lil killin devices. Might still be legal in some places, I don't know. Just a FYI there's one on e-bay right now. A brand new one in box.

The old coyote getter has been replaced by the similar but safer, spring activated M-44...Here in Montana licensed private applicators can use them...I think Wyoming is the same way maybe Texas...used mostly by Animal Damage Control Specialist (govt trappers)...I think they are totally illegal in California even for govt trappers.

These m44's work good with a GOOD lure. But, as any harvesting method or tool they soon figure out it is bad news or they become used to the lure and walk by it. That is why it is best to use all of the control methods that are available. Traps, snares, getters, denning, calling, and airplaning. Some times of the year one of these methods will work better than others. I can't see a bird of prey pulling on one of these things. It would seem to me they can't smell the lure, and there is no visuall attraction. T.20

I'm looking for a m44 with pepper for training search and rescue dogs. Any Help Is Greatly Appreciated. We want to keep our search dogs safe, training is the only way
