AFZELIA BURL, known as MAKAMONG BURL, from S.E.ASIA, is a beautful burl that is rare on the World market.Similar to Amboyna burl ,Afzelia burl has more varied figure, in burl form. Pieces larger than 6x6x2" are considered large for the spcies,and EXTREMELY RARE.AFZELIA BURL is one of the most coveted woods on the market.
A little over a month ago I hooked up with a new supplier from Thailand.I asked him if he ever came across any Afzelia burl, and it was'nt to long and he called with this piece.
Over 20 years ago I used to get AFZELIA BURL by the foot, and back then it was only $26 a foot, and in just a few years it was gone Now days this rare stock is now $720 a foot
I have this piece in my shop drying and will soon be offering calls in this rare stock.
