Fusion Battery Tray

I just received a FoxPro Fusion. The instruction manual states on p.4, 1.3 (1) the following. The tray is connected to a power cable. You may unplug the cable and remove the tray from the battery compartment during battery installation I tried to slightly pull the black plastic cap off of the battery tray. It did not come off the tray. I did not want to break anything so I stopped. Is the manual correct when it says you can unplug the cable? Also, there is a small piece of duct tape inside tape over a connection. Is this normal? Thanks in advance for replies.
 
My tray comes off too. Yours is probably tight and may need a little careful lift with a small screwdriver or knife tip. The duct tape over the connection is probably the connection for a decoy.
