204 Fiocchi ammo question

Has anybody used 204 Fiocchi 32gr v-max ammo?

If so how did it group for you, and what rifle
did you use it in.

Also has anybody hand loaded using this brass?
How did the brass hold up?

Were the flash holes in the center of the
primer cup?

It should really good in my semi-custom Tikka T3. It actually shot better than the hsm 35gr bergers and the Hornady superforemance. I haven't reloaded any of the brass yet, but it all looks good to me.

I have shot 223 50gr v-max Fiocchi that shot
very well in my rifle.

When I went to reload the brass a lot of the flash holes
were way off center. I did mess up a decapping rod.

Was wondering if anyone has noticed if the flash holes
are off center on the 204 brass.

Those Tikka's are shooters

Pretty much in the same boat as you are.

I got 100 pull-down brass awhile back which was already primed,
so cannot say how centered the flash holes are. All it needs is
to resize the necks and load up.

Does Fiocchi produce their own brass, or does another company?

We shot 3 boxes, a couple 3 shot groups sighting in, the rest on pd. On paper out of a Savage the groups were .5 to mostly touching. When we got home I noticed that most of the primers were pushed out .004-.005. I also noticed the brass was .007-.008 shorter at the datum than other brands. I reloaded a ocw test with the 32 gr vmax, CCI br and imr 8208. No primer movement on any, and at the top .5 grs they grouped the same as the factory with same poi. Will run that load for next summer's pd shoot. I did anneal the once fired brass.

Sounds like the factory shoulders were set back a little far
creating to much head space.

Other than the flash holes, I've had good luck reloading their
brass (223) with out annealing so far.

I have 350 Hornady brass which might last long enough to burn
out this barrel (heavy barrel Savage 12fv), then I might think
about a 20 practical or 20 vartarg

Was think about buying some 50rd boxes of Fiocchi for some extra
brass to reload. Guess maybe I ought to buy some more hornady.

I had some Fiocchi 204R ammo in 32 & 40g. About half the cases I shot had too much headspace right out of the box, had raised primers on a regular basis so I decided to just break the ammo down, dump the powder and recycle the bullets and brass.

I started out using an inertia hammer puller, but after 75 solid hits on a 4x4 post section, bullet had not moved a bit. Ordered a RCBS collet puller and the bullets were seated so far into the neck the collet could not get a bite on the bullets (40g) so I just went for broke and used some sidecutters and got 'em out. The powder "looked" like cfe223 but I just dumped the powder in the bushes. I did weigh a couple different cases and the powder charges were ~.5g different.

the brass is ok with the exception of the excess HS, primer pockets hold up good but I'm weary of brand myself. I use the brass for foulers and that's about it.

jpx2rk, thanks for the reply.

It seems like they do have excessive shoulder set back
Spotstalkshoot had the same problem.

Dannoboone asked if the made their own brass, I don't
know if they do or not.

I did buy a bunch of 223 Fiocchi 50rd boxes for $18.99 at
Cabella's years back. Funny that some of the boxes had
brass with GFL on the head stamp and some with Fiocchi head
stamp, Boxes looked the same.

The ones with Fiocchi head stamp had flash holes off center, some
real bad, The ones with GFL stamp were ok and I'm still loading them.

Maybe they do outsource their brass to two different company's. I gave
most of the Fiocchi stamped stuff to a fellow shooter. He said he has
no problem with the off set flash holes.
