Pulsar thermal scope mounting options

Hey guys, my buddy is trying to mount his new Pulsar to his son's Savage .17 HMR. I know there has been some discussion about different mounting options to achieve the proper eye relief when mounting to rimfires. Can y'all tell me the best option?

I would get a Pic rail and mount it on the receiver (ex. EGW). Then you can either use the cheap 40.00 mount that comes with the Pulsar or you can upgrade to something like the ZRO-Delta DLOC. I would assume you may have a higher than average sight height once mounted, so you may have to modify your stock to get a proper cheek weld. Not really a big deal to do though.

For a bolt gun, you may find the longer factory mount gives you the best eye relief. The new QD Mount was developed for the AR crowd more than the bolt action crowd.
