In the market for a spotlight but don’t know what is a good one to buy or brand?

This is not for hunting, I have first time hiefer calves fixing to calve and it would be nice to have something better and brighter than my flashlight and just be able to walk to my fence and shine it roughly 300-400 yards and check on them at night

What lumen do you recommend and brand? Rechargeable preferred

Your nearest Walmart should carry the Stanley Max 10 watt led rechargeable led light. It should work for your application. I use one around the ranch all the time. They are around $50.

Lumens ratings are a poor way to compare flashlights for your intended use. Most of the pictures are gone and some of the links no longer exist but here's an expalanation

Here's an example of Lumen exageration same light same seller,
9 out of 10 guys will buy the 10000 and there is no difference.

Todays LEDs are a vast improvement over yesterdays "Q-beams"

I wouldn't spend $200 on a light to look over your pasture. Then again I've never spent over $50 for any light I own.

I think this is the exact one that I purchased at my local Walmart last week.

Very impressed with he light when I shined it to the back of our calving pasture that night, and then that was the last time that it worked.

I charged the batteries, did everything I knew to do, so I took it back and got a refund

Would, you go back and buy another one? Think I got a lemon.

I would rather pay $50 than $200

I have had the Stanley fat max almost 4 years. It hasn't let me down yet. I would try another if you did indeed liked it before it quit on you.
Shot a coyote last night using it at around 275 yds.

We’ve been using the Streamlight brand Waypoint. It uses 4 c batteries or good hot shot batteries. Has high, low, and strobe beams. Low is like a very good flash light and high is supposed to reach 678 meters. It does work to call coyotes. We are very satisfied with these and I like the c batts over a rechargeable type. Can’t remember price offhand, think in 75$ range. Batteries will last long time on low. Edit, just saw that Cabela’s has them for 64$ with free shipping.

I still have a working very bright QBeam from several decades ago. That cord gets warm and it will test the fuses.
For many years now I have used Fenix(Phoenix) lights and they are very good quality. 20% off today.
