6mm DTI aka 6DTI

I put together a 6DTI for predator hunting. The barrel is a 22" 1:10 light contour fluted Shilen from Dtech. Thank you Mike! I added a Syrac adjustable gas block, Gieselle SSA-E trigger, and a Leupold VX-3i 4.5-14 CDS side focus scope. Total weight with scope and empty mag as shown is 8.4 lbs.

6mm DTI uses a 6.8 Remington SPC case necked down and the shoulder blown forward 30 degrees. A custom Hornady die set is available from Dtech. The 6mm DTI chamber and load data is very similar to 6x6.8 and 6mm WOA.

The plan is to use the 80gr TTSX for big game, and 55gr Nosler Ballistic Tip lead free for coyotes. My first range trip was to establish a max load since there is no load data for the longer than normal lead free 55gr NBT. 80gr TTSX on the left, 55gr NBT-LF on the right.

Both 55gr NBT and 80gr TTSX printed 3-shot groups less than 1/2 inch. It runs 100% with the 6.8 PRI mag, and recoil is tame.

A nice buck ran out here right in front of my targets while I paused for my barrel to cool.

This week I took it out to 215 yards. The wind was crazy gusting from 5-20 mph just my luck. 55gr NBT-LF and 31.5gr 8208 XBR shot well at 3545fps SD 10. I may try adjusting the seating depth but I'm happy so far. 80gr TTSX shot well with 28.0gr 8208 XBR at 2975fps also SD 10.

55gr NBT-LF at 215 yards. Four shots in .4 moa plus a wild fifth shot. Probably me or the wind. I'm pleased so far especially that it shoots lead free well, and I'm looking forward to punching some holes in critters.

Looks to be ready to roll.
Shooting like Id expect.
My 6x6.8 likes 28g x8208 like your 6DTI and ran at 2865 fps.
If you try other powders, H335 does wonders for 55-95g bullets.

Nice setup and you will enjoy a good shooting 6mm DTI, I love mine! but i'm also glade i don't have to shoot lead free...

Nice rifle glad it's shooting good for you. What kind of hand guard is that? What's the barrel measure at the muzzle, just wondering if you could thread it 5/8 for a surpressor?

Thanks! The handguard is a 15" ALG EMR V1 M-LOK 8.4oz. The barrel diameter at the muzzle is the same as my RRA PP, about .750", I can measure it later tonight.

Great pictures DiRTY DOG!

My 10 twist 6DTI loves moly coated 70gn Blitzkings over H4895. It's an ideal load for mid range prairie dogs, 300-600yrds.

An 85gn Nosler Partiion over AA-2520 is dynamite on whitetail.

Thanks, but this build Dirty Dog did himself. I chambered and fluted his barrel..... if that counts!

Haven't gotten out much this season, but finally got my first coyote with the 6DTI. He charged in to about 40 yards and the veered left where I hit him on the run with a 55gr NBT-LF. Bang-flop.

Been having a great time with my 6DTI, predators drop instantly from the 55gr NBT-LF at 3545 fps. Usyally a tiny entry, no exit or small exit, zero blood.
