Tripod and ball head?

I wanted to see some different options on what you guys are using for a ball head and attachment to the rifle? I already have a good enough tripod I believe. Just looking to see whats out there to use. The RRS stuff is awesome but not looking to spend that.

Feisol 3472 tripod with Feisol 70mm ball head and a Triclawps.

Less than $1,100 all in. Pretty good low budget setup.

I'd probably skip the Triclawps if doing it over though and put an RRS rail on the stock to mount directly to the ball head or leveling head on the tripod.

Check out EW Calls. It is 12 lbs so not something you want carry very far. I got one and put 5 shots in 1.25" @ 200 yds with my AR from a standing position when I was trying it out. I got it for nite hunting and it is working well. You can find vids on you tube.

I just drilled and tapped my handguard on my R15 and used a manfrotto ballhead with a quick release attached to rifle, no saddle needed. Still need a tripod, I'm looking at the Slik700 or Desmond 432.

Lots of stuff in the night hunting section. Try advanced "search" you'll find all kinds of info.

Are you stuck on a tripod? I personally prefer a ballhead on a bipod. You can lock it up tight with a bone on bone elbow to knee and be pretty darn sturdy. It's not going to be the same, but depends on the use. For coyotes or game when .5 moa isn't necessary and .75 will do this is easier to carry, almost as stable, and quicker to set up and move around. I have a monfroto 494 (I think) rigged to a set of bogbods that attaches to my rifle via picatinny or arca swiss plate depending on the rifle.
