Revolver refinishing options

I received 2 ruger blackhawks recently from a family member. Both 44 mag and both several years old. 20+ years, but both have some rust and putting on barrel and receiver frame. What can a man do to stop, prevent or restore these pistols.

I don't want to do any self blueing would rather have them professionally refinished.

They will be more of conversation pieces and not get shot much.

Have you given any thought to sending them to Ruger? Several years ago I sent in my old three screw Super Blackhawk and they re-barrelled it (it had been shot a lot) re-blued it and put all new screws in it for less than $100. Amazing. Even sent me back the old barrel. The gun looked like new and shot like new as well.

Yup - Ruger will take them in and contract them out to be refinished. Traditionally, this contract provider has done exceptional work, with the end product coming back looking better finished than when it originally left the mothership the first time.
