No experience with 23v. Just 19-a & the xq30f. Randy can see things I can't. I have not looked to see if his lens is convex. He is not sure,
but from the pictures I have seen, & from looking through it the picture is sharp, the distance is great & there is a lot of focus.
I think it is convex. I won't be getting rid of my hd19-a, but if I
was to buy a new one it would be the XQ30F

Pretty sure all the Helions have convex lens. Strange part is there is not much price difference between the XQ30F (Helion) and the XQ30V. Don't know why anyone would opt for the V model when the Helion has the onboard battery pack and built in recording plus I'm sure the picture is much sharper with the Helion and convex objective lens.
