Hmmmm, sound familiar?

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

my youngest cousin says that 1984 is wildly popular amongst his social peers. he's a milennial in his early 20's... and for the most part pretty [beeep] liberal... but he's paying attention to whats going on, and some of the tint is coming off his rose colored glasses. i wont say he's gonna join the tea party anytime soon, but he's made some shocking (to me anyway) changes in his viewpoints the last year or so.

ha, ya, they see animal farm and 1984 as a template to follow not as a horror of what will happen.

really sad.. Since most of them like their freedom and don't realize that once those in power are done with them, they will be the first ones hauled away.

That has happened many times throughout the history of mankind. It's nothing new, but too many have forgotten the past. The victors always write the history. Just look at WWII. The United States teaches a far different story in its classrooms than Europe. Speaking of, the Japanese specifically tried to destroy all of their documents from WWII in order to preserve a more positive light after the war. Manchu Camp 731 was one they tried to hide.

My wife just told me the other day there were a slew of people on a Facebook post decrying that the Holocaust was a hoax. I can't believe that.

What's astounding is comparing the history books used today against the ones from the 70 or before.

It's not like the history changed, only the writers making it up have.

This is how we have so many youthful morons. The eat the lies and lack any critical thinking skills.

Really sad, especially when they want 1984. I would really like to see them spend a year in these socialist utopias they so love. A year in China would change their tunes. A year in Venezuela and if they make it, they wouldn't be so supportive.

Yep, nothing is sacred.

"Few children ever learn that writers such as Shelley, George Eliot, Mark Twain and H. G. Wells were non-believers, nor that intellectual giants like Darwin, Freud, Einstein and Russell all became atheists*. Neither are they told that Hitler, Stalin, Franco, Pétain and Mussolini were all Christian believers, most of them benefiting from particularly devout families*. Again, reformers like Lord Shaftesbury, Florence Nightingale, and William Wilberforce are falsely portrayed as orthodox Christians, while the most dedicated true reformers, who were non-Christians, such as Thomas Paine, John Stewart Mill and Jeremy Bentham, are almost totally ignored in school history books. It is arguable that the Christian Churches have carried out one of the most successful whitewash jobs in history."
