I have been working with a new 6x6.8 barrel and after my initial load work I have been back to the range a couple times to confirm loads. This is what I have came up with: color trgets are 1 inch squares, black and white ones are a tad over 1/2 inch squares.

100 yards 58vmax and h322

and confirmation groups of the above load

These ones are 70sbk and ar comp

The first round of this load doesnt look so hot with all that paper in between holes but it honestly felt like I made poor shots. 31.6gr actually was a better group in the first round but when I re-tested the higher charge proved to be the winner. Below are some 3 shot confirmation groups at 100 yards.

I headed back out to the range this morning to do one last round of confirmation and final zero my scope on my 70sbk load before I go wild and load up more than 20 rounds(I hate pulling bullets) and below is the load at 200 yards. Both are 3 shots, the left one was shot first and then I made a scope adjustment and then sent 4 rounds at the 300 yard gong for 4 hits before moving to the right target.

I was having are difficult time holding steady today but with a bit of concentration I came up with a real fridge worthy group for sure. Time will tell if this is something that the gun will do somewhat regularly or if my coffee was brewed with fairy dust and unicorn piss today.

That measurement is actually larger than it should be as I included the tear in the paper. I intend to measure it on my backer cardboard for a more accurate reading.

CAUTION: THESE LOADS APPEAR TO BE SAFE IN MY RIFLE BUT MAY NOT BE IN YOURS. START LOW AND WORK UP!

That looks good was it all H322? What barrel do you have? how fast were the 70 gr loads? Any word on the dies?

I have an 18", 20" and a 24" 6X6.8. I'm going to shoot these 58's in the 18" upper. All I have to do now is steal a scope off something else now..lol

so what powder have you used for 85-90gr since I seem to be thinking in the box and you are thinking a little outside the box. So far I've used 335 for 55gr with excellent results for Nosler, Vmax not as good. 70gr Re10 works great and 85gr sierra Bt loves 8208, 90gr Nosler accubond and 8208 is not as good as the sierra load.

I haven't shot maybe 20 rounds of 85/87gr in these. I used ar comp and it showed promise but my preference is for 58 to 75gr with 70s being at the top.

4320 (or anything with similar burn rate)might be better for the 85-90gr. I think Ritch and Greg have loaded more of the heavies than I have, maybe they have some input to add?

I don't typically shoot the heavies but if I'm out yote hunting and the pigs show up then I change mags and go to the 90 accubond. I am spoiled with the way this barrel shoots. The 85gr. sierra Bt shoots the best so far. The 90gr opens up some. Not bad but considering how well the 85's shoot I should be able to get the 90's to shoot better. The only powder I've tried so far with the 90's that I had on hand was 8208.

They're your load via the grapevine.

Greg

You ever get out to shoot these yet?

Yep. Crunching numbers today. Top load worked well.
