ATN 850 IR

I bought an 850 ATN IR Light and it will not change power settings. It seems to be stuck on bright all the time. Read the manual but it just does not seem to change the power setting. Any help would be appreciated.

It is supposed to cycle through the power levels by touching but not clicking the end cap. I can not tell a difference or see a change

See if this helps not sure what kind of switch is in it.

Forward Clicky (tactical style): With forward clicky, you can depress the switch partially and the light will turn on. If you half press it quickly, the flashlight will change modes. The momentary on feature allows you to use the light for short bursts or click it for continuous on. If you want the flashlight to remain on, just press the switch until it clicks. If you want to change modes, you cycle through the modes before pressing the switch a full click. The disadvantage of a forward clicky is, 'if the light is clicked on, you must turn it off to change modes.

Reverse Clicky: Reverse clicky switches must be clicked on before you can change modes. The flashlight does not turn on until the switch clicks. To change the mode with a reverse clicky -turn the light on with a full click -then to change modes, a half press while the switch is clicked on and you will advance to the next mode. With reverse clicky switches, you do not have the momentary on feature...it's just clicked on or clicked off,

If you look around a little you can find this is a common problem

Both of those threads just died, leads me to believe operator error.

Are you sure it is even on?

I tried it all and even took the first one back. I solved the problem by aiming it real high in the air and shoot in the Lower Halo. If you need to see real far you can by tilting down just a little.

The light looks like it's zoomable. I'd use the zoom feature to adjust the intesity. My light has a forward click and I hate it. I leave it on high and use the zoom to adjust the intensity.

I was new to this NV thing and discovered my IR light is very visible at night. Looks like a big burning ball on the top. Just ordered a 940 light hoping this will be better.

Looks like a big burning ball and is visible to who? Not to coyotes, it may look like that through NV but it's soft red glow to canines.

What 940 light did you order?

Best deal going is an ebay T20 and have Kevin at HTRN add an IR LED and a rheostat, all for under $100 and you got one of the best IRs going.

I think you'll be disappointed with that 940 unless you got gen III NV.

Visible to me. I can see it glowing from a long distance. Coyotes can very clearly see it as well as Hogs. I really have not been hunting Coyotes but blew a call and watched them slide to a stop after the IR light was turned on. Hogs did not mind it at a distance but spooked when close and saw the movement. 940 is visible as well but not nearly as much.

The ATN light looks exactly like the deree light that I have been using for a few years. It should have the different power levels by clicking the end cap. I have noticed on my light if the LED pill is not adjusted correctly fore or aft in the housing it will not power through the different power levels. It would be interesting if they are exactly the same because the deere light has lots of options as far as LED colors and aphasic heads. I have the aphasic head pictured on the ATN and also a larger one that focuses the been to a much tighter focus, as well as, an extra battery attachment to run two batteries that allows for a brighter beam. In appearance they look exactly the same but I can not say if the internals and things like threads are similar. Here is a link to the flash light I have.
