We have a "drum run" around March. Used to be thick in the bays, ship channels and mouth of river every year. Haven't been in a number of years, but sure could get a workout while the run was going on.

It pulled some drag but the spider wire held. You can catch a big one behind every ship that goes by. Just cast to the edge of the drop off and let the undertow pull your bait along. I dont keep them. Skinning fish is work and I fish for fun. The good part is that you get bit almost as soon as the bait hits bottom.
