Photon "S" versus "L" Model??

The Photon XT digital is offered in the "L" Model which indicates it has a laser light...my question is, is this "laser" used in addition to an IR illuminator or is it stand alone and used as an illuminator? Is it better than an IR illuminator? Thanks

The laser on board illuminator isn't very good IMO. There was a guy on here that had some good footage with the on board IR but I never use it, always use my stand alone IR illuminator.

Best deal right now IMO is a cheap T20 off ebay and send it to Kevin. You get the best IR on the market and a rheostat.

I have had 2 Photon "S" models and currently have an "L" model. The Laser IR illuminator is not very good in my opinion and not worth the extra $$. Image quality with the "S" version IR is less grainy to me than the L version. I use a Sniper Hog Light 50LR with the IR module and it works well for me. Much better image quality than either of the 2 onboard IR illuminators.
