Best Suppressor for a AR15 .223

I have a stock upper for a Bushmaster and a 24" stainless upper, I believe 1/8 twist on the stainless, this one is heavy! The stock upper is ready to thread on a suppressor or do I cut the stainless down 4"s and get it threaded? I plan on shooting 55gr VMAX through it. Yes, for yote hunting. Whats the best suppressor I can get? I understand the bullet is going to still brake the speed of sound. Which upper do you think I should go with? I know nothing about brands of suppressors?

Not knowing anything may be a good thing since you are open to any.

I would recommend, based on the work involved in getting one, that you pick something from a reputable company, and get a reputable dealer. This is going to be a several month long (between 4mths to a year)
There are dealers here on this site, that have these good products and reputations.
Take a look and give them a chance.

With that said,

I would ask if you plan on getting more than one suppressor?

I ask because, some don't want to repeat this process more than needed. You can get one in 30 cal and put it on a 223 and it works fine. (assuming you get the proper connections and threading) the difference i have seen between a 223 and 30 cal can were less than 2 db. so for me being able to put the same can on all of my rifles is a bonus. I can justify spending more for a titanium can that would make the weight issue a non-issue. I wouldn't cut down a barrel, just thread and crown it. In the 5/8 thread and get the adapter for the 223 to go from 1/2x28 to 5/8.
The dealers can explain all this better to you, but just some things to think about.

What caliber do you want? What kind of material do you want? (steel, or other)

223 Ultra 7 Feel free to call me if you want to talk cans. You can call the shop and they will patch you through. 307 287 2052

I just want one, one that will last and easy to clean, titanium sounds like a good option, if i can keep it under a grand. I may get a 22-250 some day so a 30 cal would be what I need? what dealer are reputable? I would have to apply for my stamp at a dealer in my state, correct? Then buy they a dealer, or does a dealer do it all?

If you can locate the suppressor you want from a dealer in your state it will save you a couple months of extra wait time and since you sound like you're relatively new to this whole suppressor game using a local dealer will help you even more. I see you're a Wa State resident, are you a wet side or east sider?

If you are looking for one of, if not, the best .223 suppressor on the market, I'll second what Ray said, and point you toward a TBAC Ultra7 .223 suppressor.

Go to https://thunderbeastarms.com/dealers and find a dealer near you.

Should probably start your plan for #2 at the same time. They are a addicting...

Imo... I would go 30cal Ultra 7 or 30cal Silerncerco Omega. Or 30 cal Reaper. In no particular order.

I own one suppressor, a specwar 7,62.
I use it on all my AR"s, 223&5,56 243win 6.8 specII, 300ACC&308win.
10.5in to 20in barrels.
I even put it on an VZ58 that is for the AK round,7.62X39
They all work just fine, I have never had to change gas blocks.
I shoot military rounds and shells I buy at Wall-Mart.
I shoot shells I load.
I have read about stuff here for 6 years and almost did not buy a suppressor.
I wrote this to tell the new guy not everyone has problems.
Just turn 70 this past week, wish I had bought a suppressor 20 years ago.
My Grandfather had one he bought from Sears for $4.50 in the 1930's.

SAS has a new can coming out called the Claymore. Built specifically for the AR platform. Test results are showing 38 dB reduction and only add 4" to OAL and ~12oz.

Wow, that would be a great can to have. Thx for sharing. I will have to look into that one.

Seems to me our representatives are more interested in drama than getting things done to make the voters lives better. I guess i will have to just go it alone and make the jump without their fixing of these stupid rules.

The new Claymore is a incredible suppressor. I will have some AT Ear DB's numbers later today or tomorrow.

First can I bought is a .30cal Thundertrap.

It will fit every rifle I shoot, which is .243 down

I have now purchased another can (February 2017) which is an AAC SR-5 in .556.

All my bases are now covered!

For a dedicated .233 can, the best, I agree with RayDog. .223 Ultra 7! GREAT suppression! Very little POI shift! ULTRA light weight!

I'd have gone the .223 Ultra 7 route had I not built a 6.5CM and a 6mm. That said, I went with a TB 6.5 Ultra 7 to allow use on multiple hosts.

Give RayDog a call...

If you want the best... Thunderbeast!
