What size threads do you need to have cut on a .700 diameter .223 stainless barrel for suppressor.

Thank you for your help.

That is what I find, but Douglass Barrels said 5/8-24. I wonder why?

I am not an expert by any means but I have been told that most 22 cal cans 1/2-28 and larger cal cans are 5/8". This was to prevent a 22 cal can from being put on 30 cal barrel.

22 caliber cans run 1/2-28. BUT, more barrel left around the muzzle cannot be a bad thing. And, why go with a 22 caliber suppressor in the first place? Go with a 308 caliber can and use it on all things smaller than 308. I thread everything that has enough barrel to 5/8-24.

I never thread anything under .730 to 5/8X24 as you have VERY little shoulder. Anything under that 1/2X28. Yes look at the TB Specs in the thread above.

As per the specs if your at .700 you can go 9/16. Thats to small for 5/8. We do not want to see any 30 cal threaded 1/2" 9/16 minimum for 30 cal.

old cat, 1/2x28 is standard for .223. The minimum shoulder you want is .100 over the thread diameter. The thicker, the better so 9/16x24 would be preferable, but it's an odd size for muzzle accessories. I stick with 1/2 and 5/8. My .223s are 1/2 as well as my Tikka T3 Lite .243 and .270 due to the sporter contour so I wouldn't have to chop them shorter. Larger calibers/contours above .725 I have threaded 5/8.

I have a DPMS sweet 16 in 223 which has a Bull Barrel so it should easily thread to the larger size. That way I can use my 308 Suppressor on it.
