What are some of your favorite powders and loads for the 280, particularly with 150gr bullets? I'm having trouble hitting a measly 2700fps with the 150 NBT out of my 22" Ruger. I've worked all the way up to the manual max charges with Alliant RL19, IMR 7828SSC, H4831SC, and IMR 4831.

I am running the 168gr Berger at 2865fps with Reloder 26 but N560 will get you good speed too.
If you go by manual max's that are based off mild maximum pressures originally designated with the Remington auto-loader in mind you will not achieve the 280's potential. JMO.

In a Remington 700 bolt gun, I shoot 58.5g of IMR 7828 with a 160g nosler partition or sierra sptbt at 2940 fps, 24" barrel, this load is right out of an old Nosler manual as most accurate load.

This load with the Sierra is one of the most effective deer loads I have ever found as energy dumped on deer is awesome, they just collapse.

I would not use this load in an auto loader, and also work up to this load in your rifle, safe in my rifle using Remington brass with my components.

I have a Ruger AW in .280 Rem.Around here shot's rarely exceed 80 yds so speed is not all that important to me.On the other hand.I get excellent accuracy staying close to the start loads with IMR 4831 IMR 4350 and RL19 with 140gr Sierra's.
