222 REM accuracy loads using 40 gr bullets

I cant recal my exact load but i remember it being one grain over the minimum load in the hornady manual of 4198 and a 40 gr vmax. Works wonders in my tikka 222.

Either H4198 or IMR-4198 will give you good speed and accuracy with a 40 grain bullet. Check the Hodgdon website for load data.

R7 and sierra 40gn flat base shot very well in my mod 721. The 40gn vmax boattail was horrible thats the only bullet that my rifle didn't like.

I would try the rx7, 4198,8208, benchmark in that order ive never loaded blc2 ive never had luck with 322

you do not say what rifle. out of 2 sakos and 2 remingtons I have never had to try anything but I-4198. but I am sure others are great.

I bought IMR 4198 by the case for use in dog rifles, 40g and 50g. H335 with a 55g is nothing short of unreal, use Rem 7 1/2 primer. Walt Berger used H335 with is own 52's and sat a bunch of world records with it until the 6 PPC came along, REALLY FAST and accurate....look for the upper end pressure node.

I have a Remington model 722 in 222 and I shoot 24 gr (max load) of H322 with the 40g Nosler BT at approximately 3490 fps. That load in my rifle is extremely accurate.

X2

I got way better accuracy with the 50g v-maxs than the 40s. Using imr 4198 and 4320. If you try the 50s and bigger dont over look the imr4320. It is not real fast but it is accurate. I should try the 40s again just to see if i can do better with them as they were sure faster.
