I was at the range today and the gentleman next me was shooting an AR in 308. Walking back and forth we started talking and I found out he doesn't reload so I asked if he saved his brass...well it came home with me.
First I tumbled the brass, then I annealed it. After that I ran them through my Redding 7-08 F/L die.
The cases came out perfect, the neck and shoulders were free of any dents, looked like a normal 7-08 case.
My finished cases came in at 2.012", trim to length for the 7-08 is 2.025". Is this something I need to be concerned with?
I realize the trim to length on a 308 is 2.005", according to my book.
This was my first attempt to neck down a case, so I'm being very cautious with this, don't want to run the bus off in a ditch.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
